When I first heard of the flameless candles, I kept thinking, ‘what a Godsend for a challenged, safety conscious household.’ I have a very large, inquisitive dog, that does not need to be around real flames. Also, my hubby has asthma, so we use scented candles infrequently; mostly during entertaining. So I loved the idea that some of the flameless candles offer optional diffusers, just for those special occasions. Also, that there is NO smoke, which itself can disturb allergies, and there is increasing scientific evidence, that toxins emitted burning candles, can be a health hazard.

However, some of the first flameless candles that I saw, did not look very realistic, at all; the lights did not flicker. Thank goodness, they are making progress, so that we can now bring them home and display them proudly, while increasing our safety.

I purchased the AromaSpa Candle and couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve had it for 3 months and I ritualistically turn it on almost every evening. I find it quite soothing and very realistic, with the flickering light. I have mine located where I am able to plug it in, unobtrusively. So, I generally leave it on until it turns itself off, in six hours. Since mine is plugged in, I have no problems using the diffuser, if I so desire, and it offers sufficient aroma to satisfy me, without overdoing it.

It just so happens, that I had a large, clear glass plate, that came with river rocks and three real candles. I had long ago used the candles but immediately thought that this candle would look great nestled in the plate of river rocks. I was right! It looks as though they came together and added to the elegance of the total picture. It is really attractive.

There are so many places where flameless candles can bring peace and tranquility, where real flames aren’t permitted. For the hospitalized patient. Anyone home-bound, or disabled that might not want to deal with managing a real candle. For that forgetful senior citizen, or the teen, that you just don’t trust with real candles in their room, just yet. A dull office, or a little cube space, could sure be brought to life and maybe offer a Zen moment here, and there.

Okay, enough said! You can see I’m turned on by this candle and the idea of flameless candles, in general. I think you just might be, too.

I like the idea of combining fragrance with a candle effect.

Pros: can use any fragrance oil, low energy use, can leave unattended (out of the reach of children and pets)

Cons: fragrance warmer does not work with batteries alone – in order to have both the candle and the fragrance warmer work, you must plug it in. Does not throw the fragrance particularly well – could use a little fan or room for more oil, candle does not look as real as other flameless candles I’ve seen, the river rocks don’t serve a function and look a bit odd to me.

The book is filled with some good information. However, There is no safety data for the oils presented. Some oils are not safe to use during pregnancy, estrogen dependent cancer, or may cause skin irritation or phototoxicity (sunburn). Use caution when trying the recipies in this book or research the oils further.A disturbing section was the one on pets. I would definately do more research before putting anything on a cat. Cats lick their fur and not all oils can be ingested. Eucalyptus is toxic if taken internally. There have been reports of Tea Tree nearly killing cats. In addition, they recommended adding tansy to a horse’s feed to treat worms. Tansy is very toxic to horses and cows. People usually try to remove the plant from their pastures.Last word. Do your research and don’t just use one book.

Valerie Ann Worwood’s book “The Complete Book Of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy” is one of the most complete and down-to-earth books on the subject, especially for the beginer. If I were to teach a course on aromatherapy for beginers, this would be one of two main texts I would use, as it is so complete. Here writing style is very clear, easily understood, and enjoyable to read. No dryness here. She begins by discussing ten essntial oils as a “basic care kit,” and explains how such oils should be used via an A-Z list of common household occurances. The list includes the following as some topics: -Abdominal pain. -Abraisions. -Black Eye. -Bruises. -Colds. -Fever. -Headache. -Hicups. As a matter of principle, she explains at the very begining of the book that the information contained therein is NOT intended to take the place of a Physician’s care. Her chapters on Travel, Sports related injuries, and Beauty (3 chapters covering head to feet!), Maternity and Motherhood, Mens/Women’s health (seperate chapters), and Aging are exceptional. She closes with chapters on aromatherapy for animals, and gardening; which I have not seen except in a work by Dr. Gary Young. The charts at the end of the book are indespensable, and complete as a ready quick refrance. Valerie’s bibliography contains such authors as Belaiche; Gattefose; Valnet, Duraffourd, Lapraz; and Wells; shows that she is very well read as she is experienced. These authors are the very pioneers of the modern resurgence of aromatherapy, and should be read by all who desire to be serious students of the art and science that is aromatherapy. Those who may wish to criticize her lack of litterary sitations should go and read the works cited here, remembering that Valerie has over 25 years of practical experience as a student and practicioner in a country where aromatherapy is taken seriously, and all they will be left holding is empty litterary critique. Better still, they should utilize her book, and let experience speak for itself! My only sugestion for a revision would be an in-depth chapter on essential oil chemistry, and their interaction with the bodily systems. Otherwise, I consider this book to be amoung the best out there on the subject. It makes a great gift for all occasoins.

This is a great nebulizer for essential oils. It has 5 different settings as well as a knob allowing you to adjust how much mist actually comes out. You do have to read the instructions to understand the settings. I like setting #2: the mist goes for about 2 hours then shuts off. If I fill it to the line, I can generally get 6 hours of use on the highest mist setting. Plus, don’t leave standing water in it. If you do, you will need to fill it with water and a small amount of bleach to kill the mold that forms. (This is true for any water-type piece of equipment such as this.)

NOTE: The price shown here is about higher than what it’s actually sold for at all the places where I have seen these. (I happen to know the wholesale cost and the markup on this is very high.)

I love this little machine. It’s small and quiet. I fill it with filtered water before I go to sleep and place a few drops of essential oil to help me relax, and to help clear my allergies and sinuses. I like it because it produces a fine mist. You do have to place a washcloth or placemat underneath it to catch the moisture. You can set it to automatically shut off in various time increments, and there are features to adjust dispersal of moisture. The internal blue light is very bright and can not be shut off while the machine is running. So if bright lights bother you while you sleep, I suggest you get an eye mask. You’ll want to keep the device by your nightstand or close to where you sleep to get the benefits. Or, if you like it in the living room or day room, the light will actually be a nice addition. Be sure to rinse it out as soon as you are done using it I order to prevent bacteria from growing.

This is one of the first Aromatherapy books I bought and use it constantly. This is a great book when you want more than just a few lines about a certain oil. The formulas/recipes in the back of the book are wonderful too. I recommend this book to anyone interested in aromatherapy…beginners and pro’s!

Yes, there is much information here but it covers too many areas that are not aromatherapy. Pages & pages devoted to massage & meditation techniques, emotional issues, yet only 2 pages to discuss the concept of top, middle & base notes. What about how to actually use those little bottles, some with special techniques to actually get the oil to flow or others that are open necked & will spill everywhere. And if you want to look up a specific oil – no such luck. Details on each oil are grouped by their type: citrus, root, flower. If you don’t know the type then you must page thru the entire section cause there is not an index listing for the various oils. Bad editing choice. I would not recommend this book – find something else.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that this book is small in size, if you have an interest in aromatherapy or simply want to add to your knowledge of it, this is the perfect book. When I got this book I read it cover to cover without ever once getting bored and when I was done I was ready to try everything in it. The author not only covers how the oils effect the body, but the intensity levels with wich oils are stonger in smell, wich will last longer on the skin and warnings as to wich ones should not be used and why. The book is 400 pages long, illustrated on glossy paper with great photos. It includes recipes for making massage oils, fragrances for the skin, oils to use durring meditation, how to meditate, how to give a massage, wich oils to use in baths, lotions, in daily skin care and its all very easy to follow. I suggest this book to anyone who has even the slightest interest in essential oils. You wont be dissapointed.

I bought this one to replace another I’ve had for years, it’s still one of the best diffusers to get. I use oils when they’re needed, i.e… bug going around or need to relax the atmosphere. So it works very well, no candles, no noise, easy to use and replaceable pads. I really do like this diffuser. Thanks

In a field where so many books are filled with unproven claims, outright falsehoods, and just plain fluff, Kurt Schnaubelt’s books stand out as serious, well researched works that accord aromatherapy the respect it deserves.By focusing on the chemistry of essential oils, we learn *why* an essential oil works the way it does and how different chemotypes of the same EO can have vastly different effects (an important issue that is completely ignored by many aromatherapy books). We also learn why some EOs must be used with great caution. Dozens of oils are profiled with diagrams, lists of primary effects and contraindications, etc. There is also a chapter with proven recipes for a variety of physical, psychological, and cosmetic conditions. All methods of application are covered (including those well established in Europe but rarely used in the U.S., e.g., suppositories), and Dr. Schnaubelt candidly states where essential oil therapy is most effective (e.g., infectious diseases, hormonal imbalances, and problems affecting the psyche and nervous system) as well as where aromatherapy has relatively little to offer (allergic and autoimmune conditions as well as chronic metabolic and degenerative conditions).What makes Advanced Aromatherapy even more of a gem is that Dr. Schnaubelt integrates the science of aromatherapy into a holistic rather than an allopathic framework and gives pointers on selecting the appropriate EOs by taking into account the totality of the patient’s symptoms.

First and most importantly, I *love* this book. It explains the chemical composition of essential oils in easy to understand terms. It gives a science-loving person a lot of interesting information. It cites studies (and *DOES* have footnotes….) This is NOT a simple recipe book. It does have some great ones listed throughout the book, but it is promarily an explanation of the science of many essential oils. How they work, what molecules they are made of, which ones are toxic and at what levels, etc. What I am peeved about is that, when I first came on Amazon to look for science-oriented essential oil books and found this one, the negative reviews made me decide *not* to buy it. Luckily, I happened to see it in a bookstore, picked it up, and found out for myself that it is a perfect book to supplement the essential oil library. There is so much great scientific info in easy to understand terms. I *highly* recommend it if you are interested in science.

I love this Ultimate Essential Oil Set because economically speaking this is a wonderful collection; it would have cost me a great deal more money had I made several separate purchases of the same items included in this kit. I know this because I’ve been pricing these for quite a while. Factor in the price of shipping you’ll only paying .50 per bottle. There are 32 bottles in the set.

Now speaking of the bottles these are the perfect size; they’re not too much because it would suck to get stuck with a fragrance you don’t like, and they’re not too little because a few drops go a long way; the fragrance is very potent. The lemon smells like lemon and the lavender smells like lavender. I’m looking forward to mixing these oils with both of my favorite a carrier oils–Jojoba or Almond oil–to make my own perfumes and body sprays.Ultimate Aromatherapy Essential Oil Set- 32/10 ml

I gave it 4.5 stars [pretend it's 4.5] instead of five because no booklet comes with this set at all. So buy one of the many books listed here on Amazon about essential oils [like I did], or get the information online for free if you have the time to do the research.

Shirley Price is an author to be trusted. While many books on the market seem to repeat claims without substantive proof, Price’s texts offer footnoted references. This text is well researched and provides source material for deeper study.Price explains the chemistry of aromatherapy clearly, exhorting the reader to learn why and how essential oils affect the body and mind. Chemistry, botany, and application are brought together is a beneficial, down to earth, deep text. With factual content and science on which to base decisions, the aromatherapy practitioner can make informed decisions.As a teacher of aromatherapy (my students are allied health professionals and alternative practitioners) I recommend both this text and Price’s AROMATHERAPY WORKBOOK.

I make a point to check and double check any informational source that I might use as reference in considering possible avenues. I have found this book to be extremely helpful in making such decisions pertaining to aromatherapy. It is full of actual case studies, physicians reference notes, reasonable scientific methodology, and sound references. This is one of the only books that I know of that successfully convinced me of the possible use of aromatherapy with more traditional allopathic methods. I love this Ultimate Essential Oil Set because economically speaking this is a wonderful collection; it would have cost me a great deal more money had I made several separate purchases of the same items included in this kit. I know this because I’ve been pricing these for quite a while. Factor in the price of shipping you’ll only paying .50 per bottle. There are 32 bottles in the set.

Now speaking of the bottles these are the perfect size; they’re not too much because it would suck to get stuck with a fragrance you don’t like, and they’re not too little because a few drops go a long way; the fragrance is very potent. The lemon smells like lemon and the lavender smells like lavender. I’m looking forward to mixing these oils with both of my favorite a carrier oils–Jojoba or Almond oil–to make my own perfumes and body sprays.Ultimate Aromatherapy Essential Oil Set- 32/10 ml

I gave it 4.5 stars [pretend it's 4.5] instead of five because no booklet comes with this set at all. So buy one of the many books listed here on Amazon about essential oils [like I did], or get the information online for free if you have the time to do the research.

This text is well researched and provides source material for deeper study.Price explains the chemistry of aromatherapy clearly, exhorting the reader to learn why and how essential oils affect the body and mind. Chemistry, botany, and application are brought together is a beneficial, down to earth, deep text. With factual content and science on which to base decisions, the aromatherapy practitioner can make informed decisions.As a teacher of aromatherapy (my students are allied health professionals and alternative practitioners) I recommend both this text and Price’s AROMATHERAPY WORKBOOK.

I consider Thieves Essential Oil to be ESSENTIAL. It’s truly a ‘magical’ product. Just a hint of sore throat or any other ailment seems to be helped by using the oil. I put a drop or two on the back of my hand, lick it, and that’s all there is to it. It also freshens your breath and can be diffused to clean your air. It seems to kill everything! An amazing product.

This is a great nebulizer for essential oils. It has 5 different settings as well as a knob allowing you to adjust how much mist actually comes out. You do have to read the instructions to understand the settings. I like setting #2: the mist goes for about 2 hours then shuts off. If I fill it to the line, I can generally get 6 hours of use on the highest mist setting. Plus, don’t leave standing water in it. If you do, you will need to fill it with water and a small amount of bleach to kill the mold that forms. (This is true for any water-type piece of equipment such as this.)

I fill it with filtered water before I go to sleep and place a few drops of essential oil to help me relax, and to help clear my allergies and sinuses. I like it because it produces a fine mist. You do have to place a washcloth or placemat underneath it to catch the moisture. You can set it to automatically shut off in various time increments, and there are features to adjust dispersal of moisture. The internal blue light is very bright and can not be shut off while the machine is running. So if bright lights bother you while you sleep, I suggest you get an eye mask. You’ll want to keep the device by your nightstand or close to where you sleep to get the benefits. Or, if you like it in the living room or day room, the light will actually be a nice addition. Be sure to rinse it out as soon as you are done using it I order to prevent bacteria from growing.

This a a great pocket guide of a larger book – Reference Guide for Essential Oils. It can fit in a purse, book bag, and brief case and contains all 600 items of usage for physical and emotional health issues with 275 pages.

The essential oil blends are Young Living, however the single oils can be applied to 100% theraputic grade essential oils. (Why would you want to use anything else?) Also, the book does explain blending.

As a spiral bound book, it can be opened to a page and layed flat for easy usage, and has all the same charts: VITAFLEX HAND & FEET, AURICULAR EMOTIONAL THERAPY AND RAINDROP THERAPY.

GREAT BOOK FOR THE PRICE.

I’m a Massage Therapist and really know nothing about essential oils and Aromatherapy. Other reviewers know more about how good the content of the book is and effectiveness of suggested combinations of oils. but there is certainly an abundance of information in this little binder. It is little. It just bigger than a paperback, but it has a nice sturdy cover and a spiral binder. This allow you to flip the book open and have it stay on the page.

Soon, I’m heading back to school for another year, so I can learn about this Aromatherapy. This is course required reading for me. My school would not have chosen this book if it weren’t a good material resource.

What I really like; the pages are alphabetized. It appears there are essential oil combinations to positively affect everything…from A to Z. This includes physical as well as emotional issues. It’s all in there. In the bibliography, they have listed all kinds for resources for additional information, books, videos, and products. Included is a body systems chart that shows what oils positively affect individual organ systems. The have even included a Vita Flex Feet Chart for Reflexology. It’s very clear. This is something I can use right now in treatment.

There’s a number of seller’s offering this book. The seller I chose was Energy Essentials. Amazon fulfilled and delivered in warp speed. My book is new.

I’m really looking forward to learning about Alternative Therapies and Chinese Medicine and seeing the results I can get. With this book, keep your glasses and a bright light nearby. I’ve seen a lot. My eyes are old…for sure, but this is the smallest print I have seen in a book, ever. I hope I don’t get a headache while reading, otherwise I’ll be like the mad scientist trying to mix combinations up. The print is really small.

When I first heard of the flameless candles, I kept thinking, ‘what a Godsend for a challenged, safety conscious household.’ I have a very large, inquisitive dog, that does not need to be around real flames. Also, my hubby has asthma, so we use scented candles infrequently; mostly during entertaining. So I loved the idea that some of the flameless candles offer optional diffusers, just for those special occasions. Also, that there is NO smoke, which itself can disturb allergies, and there is increasing scientific evidence, that toxins emitted burning candles, can be a health hazard.

However, some of the first flameless candles that I saw, did not look very realistic, at all; the lights did not flicker. Thank goodness, they are making progress, so that we can now bring them home and display them proudly, while increasing our safety.

I purchased the AromaSpa Candle and couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve had it for 3 months and I ritualistically turn it on almost every evening. I find it quite soothing and very realistic, with the flickering light. I have mine located where I am able to plug it in, unobtrusively. So, I generally leave it on until it turns itself off, in six hours. Since mine is plugged in, I have no problems using the diffuser, if I so desire, and it offers sufficient aroma to satisfy me, without overdoing it.

It just so happens, that I had a large, clear glass plate, that came with river rocks and three real candles. I had long ago used the candles but immediately thought that this candle would look great nestled in the plate of river rocks. I was right! It looks as though they came together and added to the elegance of the total picture. It is really attractive.

There are so many places where flameless candles can bring peace and tranquility, where real flames aren’t permitted. For the hospitalized patient. Anyone home-bound, or disabled that might not want to deal with managing a real candle. For that forgetful senior citizen, or the teen, that you just don’t trust with real candles in their room, just yet. A dull office, or a little cube space, could sure be brought to life and maybe offer a Zen moment here, and there.

Okay, enough said! You can see I’m turned on by this candle and the idea of flameless candles, in general. I think you just might be, too.

I like the idea of combining fragrance with a candle effect.

Pros: can use any fragrance oil, low energy use, can leave unattended (out of the reach of children and pets)

Cons: fragrance warmer does not work with batteries alone – in order to have both the candle and the fragrance warmer work, you must plug it in. Does not throw the fragrance particularly well – could use a little fan or room for more oil, candle does not look as real as other flameless candles I’ve seen, the river rocks don’t serve a function and look a bit odd to me.

I’m very happy with how well this diffuser works. It comes with 5 pads that you put drops of pure essential oils on and place inside the unit. You plug the unit into an outlet and will notice the fragrance within about five or ten minutes. The oils are not included, but any pure essential oils will work. (Lavender, peppermint, orange, whatever you like…) The diffuser is nice to keep in any room or bathroom to have beautiful, natural scents rather than the chemical based scents you get from the typical plug-ins. The pads seems to last a long time and you should use different pads for different scents of oils. They also sell refill pads. On the box, they list several combinations of oils for relaxation, energizing or air freshening. If you like experimenting with aromatherapy scents, this is a great product to have.

This aromatherapy car diffuser is very simple to use. You put a few drops of any essential oil on a small pad that you insert into the front of the diffuser, plug it into your car lighter and that’s it. The fragrance is noticeable within a minute or two depending on how many oil drops you use. Usually between three and five drops is enough for most cars. I have tried peppermint oil and it makes the air feel cool to breathe and does help keep you alert. Any pure oil will work, but mint or citrus oils (like grapefruit or sweet orange) have worked best for me in my car. The pads seem to last a long time and it’s best to use one pad for each different fragrance you use. The diffuser comes with five pads. Additional refill pads can be purchased seperately (very inexpensive). I prefer this diffuser to typical car air freshners that have a strong artificial or overly perfumy smell. 5 stars!

I found this on sale at GNC for .95! What a great buy! It’s really attractive in the dark and soothing. Watching the colors change can help you drop off to sleep. Several drops of oil will generate enough scent to be definitely noticeable without being overpowering. The air quality in the room improves with the cool misting via ultrasonic means. Best of all, this mister has a water sensor and shuts off automatically. I get 5 hours out of it when I fill the water to the recommended line. It’s safe, effective, and fun. I wouldn’t want to pay more than what I paid for it given its size and use of less expensive materials. But at that sale price, it’s terrific!

This is a very good choice if you are looking for an aromatherapy or scent inducing device. Since it uses no heat but ultrasound to disperse oil there is no degradation plus there is no carbon monoxide either. This happens to be a better choice than units costing several times as much. I have found this unit selling for much cheaper else where, so shop around.

I have this unit located in my bedroom which replaced a Pearlessence diffuser. The unit is much quieter than the other, but I think as far as scent is concerned the Pearlessence worked a bit better. It does have some new features that I like more like the 30 second timer, water reservoir, and a on /off switch located on front of the unit. I have solved the scent problem by adding just a few more drops of oil.

This is one of the most stylish humidifiers out there and I got it mainly for its aesthetics. It is great for light humidifying for a small room and the aroma sample that comes in the package is pleasant smelling. The light transitions smoothly from color to color and is really pretty. Maybe it’s just me but it also makes a comforting butterfly-like pattern on the ceiling when the lights are off. I think it would be great in a child’s room as it can serve as a night light in a way!

I had the diffuser for just a couple weeks and the diffuser burned the oils instead of slowly dispersing them. The thing wasnt even powerfull enough to work in one bedroom and broke after falling off of my 1 foot night stand onto my rug!!! Spend just a little more money on a better one or you’ll regret it and end up having to replace it within a month or two.
